Three-step application process

Apply online
  1. Register
  2. Check your email & create your password
  3. Login to complete your application and include the documents: 
    • High-school or University transcript / diploma / certificate
    • Proof of English proficiency - TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent
    • Passport copy
    • Curriculum vitae
    • Motivation letter (500 words minimum)
    • Reference letters (if applicable)

Documents must be translated into English by an official translator. Copies are accepted, however original documents may be requested.

After you submit your application, we will send you a confirmation email that includes a link to pay your application fee (CHF 100).

Acceptance
  1. The admissions office will review your application. If you have met the requirements and have displayed motivation for the program, a provisional letter of acceptance will be sent. 
  2. To secure your enrollment the confirmation fee of CHF 3'000.- must be paid within 30 days and will be applied toward your first term fees. 
  3. Cancelation Insurance is optional at of fee of CHF 410.-

Confirmation & visa application
  1. After your payment, you will receive your enrollment letter to apply for your visa (if applicable).*
  2. The remaining balance of the first term fees must be recieved six weeks before your start date. Any special room requests (first-come basis) can only be confirmed once full payment is received.

*For non-EU students, you will need apply for a student visa at the nearest Swiss Embassy or Consulate with your confirmation letter and proof of payment. The absolute decision is made by Swiss authorities and can take up to 12 weeks.

Scholarship for Swiss citizens (or Swiss permit holders)
  • 30% scholarship on the full duration of their studies to all new applicants who are Swiss citizens.
  • 20% scholarship on the full duration of their studies to all new applicants who are C Permit holders.
  • 15% scholarship on the full duration of their studies to all new applicants who are B Permit holders.

SHMS has academic partnerships with a selection of educational institutions at high school and graduate level around the world.

This allows new applicants to benefit from:

  • Credit transfers. Please contact us to check the validity of your current educational institution.
  • And/or scholarships on tuition fees
Merit-based scholarship

At SHMS we reward academic excellence and encourage new applicants to continue with their outstanding performance at our school by granting them merit-based scholarships. Merit-based scholarships are usually one-off scholarships applied to a particular semester.

Payment plans

SHMS can provide students (new and returning) with a payment plan to help extend the payment of their educational fees. Please note, this service will be subject to an administration fee applied on a per semester basis.

General Information:   

FINS is part of EDUCATIVA, one of the largest organisations in Europe delivering educational services and products. FINS Student Loans benefit from the support of the European Investment Fund and the European Union which means students can access the loans without having a job, income, or any other guarantees.

Who is eligible for a FINS loan?

Any EU citizen that wants to study in the EU, United Kingdom, Norway, or Switzerland and has a clean financial record. Both private and public institutions are accepted.

How does FINS work?

Students can apply to FINS up to one year before beginning their studies if they seek funding for the whole duration of their course.

Students that have already started their studies and are now in their 2nd, 3rd etc. year can also apply if they seek partial funding for the remainder of their course.

FINS’ application process is based on the student’s university application file. The student needs to provide:

  • Copy of ID
  • Personal Statement.
  • Letter of Recommendation from a professor or a supervisor.
  • Updated CV.
  • Transcript containing the latest grades obtained.
  • Completed budget template of expected expenses and income. Students can benefit from free financial counselling from FINS to complete this budget template.

 

What does FINS offer to students?

  • Up to 25.000 EUR for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
  • Economic stability before arriving in a foreign country.
  • Covering of all educational expenses (tuition fees, accommodation, transportation, medical insurance, etc) in the limit of 25.000 EUR.
  • Money directly into the student’s bank accounts.
  • Accessibility: no job or income required to access the loan.
  • Fair evaluation based on the student’s university application file.
  • Flexibility: students can adjust loans depending on a need-basis and will be offered in monthly instalments to prevent overborrowing.
  • Grace periods: for the whole duration of their studies and up to 1 year after graduation.
  • Up to 10 years repayment period.
  • Interest rates comparable with bank loans but with very flexible conditions.

 

Application Procedure:

  • Students get in contact with a personal financial counsellor and start working on their study budget.
  • Students receive a personalized indicative loan offer.
  • If the student agrees with the offer, they proceed with the rest of the required documents and submit their application online at hellofins.com.
  • FINS replies in 48 hours if application is complete. The student is invited to a 1:1 online interview.
  • Within 72 hours after the interview, if the loan application is approved, the student receives their final loan offer.
  • If the student accepts the offer, FINS will proceed with signing the loan contract once the student receives their unconditional offer from the university.
  • Student receives the money needed for their studies as per the agreed schedule.

Our Direct Entry program makes it easy for students who have undertaken compatible vocational or university courses to continue their academic journey at our school. Candidates who have undertaken vocational or university courses compatible with the modules offered at SHMS may apply to transfer their credits and shorten their academic progression. 

 We recognize previous studies towards diploma programs, undergraduate, and postgraduate degrees. 

To apply for direct entry and credit transfer into your program of choice, please provide the following documents:
